Our guest speaker this half term was Barry Harteveld representing the charity Blind Veterans UK 'Life Beyond Sight'. The children were really engaged from start to finish and learnt how they might help someone who has lost their sight. Harvey the dog was loved by everyone and an absolute professional - thank you guys for taking the time to come into our school!

The first round of residentials with our sister school Kirklington have been a huge success! Here are a collection of memories made from Hagg Farm, Scarborough and Sherwood........

Nature Club Antics - Every Thursday After School!

A big thank you to Bruce Chalkley for coming into school and giving the KS2 children a cricket coaching lesson in the sunshine! A real treat after SATS!

We have teamed up with Newark Castle Archers to run an afterschool club. The children have really enjoyed learning the art and skill of Archery - Here are our Archers in action.......

The PAWS Campaign has been launched in school today. Buddy says 'good luck with the poster competition everyone! He's very proud of you all!

KS1 have decorated biscuits for Red Nose Day - altogether so far the children and staff have raised £32.50! Thank you for all your support

We have painted our nose's red on Red Nose Day in support of our blue planet and Red Nose Day supported charities!

Manners Sutton Children have been given the opportunity to design a new logo for the Newark Parish Council covering Averham, Staythorpe and Kelham....Here they are busy at work and getting creative! What a team!

Oliver is raising money for the charity 'Life beyond sight loss' by doing 24hrs unplugged from any electronic source of entertainment. He is being joined by another child in school too - Lotte from KS1! Donations can be taken via the office. Very proud of you guys! Good Luck!

KS1 Hansel and Gretel performance was fabulous! Thank you to all the parents who came and watched the show. Also a big thank you to Mrs Kirk and Mrs Wilson for serving refreshments and mince pies on the night.

We are proud to present a piece of homework from Charlotte in Year 6 - please WOW at her awesome work!

Mrs Wilson and Mrs Macleod came into help once again along with Mrs Jackson and Mrs Edwards with planting bulbs in our wildlife area and around school. The fire pit was finally lit and the KS1 children had a grand tour of the new outdoor area! Roll on spring to see the wonderful daffodils!!!

Buddy's time in school as the 'School Dog' has led to him learning how to tell the time. At 10.30am he will move to sit near the door awaiting first break and for his friends to collect him........

Tree planting around school - all the children enjoyed planting trees as aprt of outdoor learning scheme. A variety of trees were planted - kindly donated by Woodland Trust.

Congratulations to all of our children that achieved 35 reads this half term! There was lots of fun making pizza and watching a film as a super treat! Next half term children will have the opportunity to take part in our golden time 'dungeons and dragons' afternoon choosing their favourite activities.

In line with the topic 'Stone Age', children in KS2 have embarked on an outdoor learning experience making clay pots on a fire pit and den building! Thank you to Mrs Greenfield for helping and sharing her knowledge with us. The children have had such a great week and enjoyed every bit of learning. Our children had a fairy wonderful experience outside in the wildlife meadow today! Visiting the fairies......

A huge thank you to Staythorpe Power Station for donating the money to school for this wonderful outdoor play house and colourful buddy benches! The children are thrilled to bits!

Our fabulous day of African Art and Dance courtesy of the African Ark Company. The children all participated in tribul dancing and created some amazing african art work! Thank you to the Friends of Averham for funding our workshop.

Our brilliant Eco Greenhouse is half way to completion - more bottles needed, so please keep bringing them in to school!!

The Mobile Planetarium was a fantastic day enjoyed by pupils to support our topic for the term. Mrs Hunt's space dinner made the day extra gallactic!! Here are some of the images from inside the dome....

Sports Relief week saw the children of Manners Sutton participate in a Yogathon with Expert Teacher Katie Greenfield. Yoga and crafts were celebrated throughout the whole afternoon and raised £16.00 for an excellent cause!

Our KS1 children met the Blue Watch Team this week and found out more about the people who help us and keep us safe in our community

All had a wonderful time at this years Winter Fayre organised by The Friends of Averham and Manners Sutton Children....A whopping £315.00 was raised for school and here is where we say a huge thank you for all of your donations and time in supporting this event!

The children presented their poppies at the front of Assembly in a show of respect and thoughtfulness. The children made thier poppies at school out of clay. Thank you to Georgie for a moving Asssembly!

This week saw the launch of our Dog Walking Afterclub! Thanks to Bella the Dog and amazing community involvement and support a great time was had by all - Special thanks to Mrs Woolley for getting the hot chocolate and snack ready for thier return to school! Looking forward to seeing what the children get up to on thier next walk around the village!
